Become an Advocate for WCCN by Organizing an Event

Creating change and hope for the poor of Nicaragua is as fun and easy as hosting one of these great events:

Book Club: Form a book club, choosing books that confront issues of poverty. Make your friends aware of the struggle that many face in this world and how WCCN and microfinance create lasting change.

Coffee Party: Enjoy stimulating conversations about microfinance and WCCN’s involvement while drinking Fair Trade Coffee. Invite your friends to learn more about WCCN and how they can help alleviate poverty with everyday decisions, like choosing to purchase Just Coffee. This Madison-based coffee roster works hand in hand with our partner La FEM. Together these organizations help empower the poor rural women of Nicaragua. Check out El Corazon, Las Diosas, and the regular Nicaragua blend on-line at the Just Coffee website!

Movie Night: Invite friends over to watch a movie produced in a developing country, one that focuses on poverty, or one made by WCCN. Then talk about how you and your friends can help make a difference in the lives of the poor through microfinance and WCCN.

Pottery Hour: Host a pottery hour. Bring friends together and enjoy the craftsmanship of Nicaraguan potters as beautiful pottery is brought to your home or organization. Every pottery piece purchased supports WCCN’s fight to alleviate poverty. Please contact Susan Frisbie, if you are within a two hour radius of Madison, to organize a date for your next pottery party!

WCCN Presentation: Invite a WCCN staff member to travel anywhere within a two hour radius from Madison to visit and share a presentation about our work with the poor. If you or anyone you know are interested in hearing more about WCCN’s role in Nicaragua please contact Susan Frisbie. You can also host your own presentation with supplies provided by WCCN!

*If any of your guests choose to donate to WCCN please collect their contact information so we can thank them for their help*

WCCN will gladly provide materials for all these events! We have brochures, handouts, and videos available. If you are interested please contact Susan Frisbie via phone (608) 257-7230 or email devdir@wccnica.org.
