Film Summary

Following decades of war and foreign intervention, more than half the population of Nicaragua suffered from underemployment and poverty. The Nicaraguan Credit Alternatives Fund (NICA Fund), a unique partnership of socially responsible investors, borrowers, and nonprofit organizations, formed to create a ray of hope. Stemming from true dedication to the people of Nicaragua, the NICA Fund provided loans to create jobs, opportunities, and social progress despite those difficult conditions. Better Futures tells the poignant and inspiring stories of microcredit borrowers and the positive impact that the NICA Fund has had on their lives.
